Caribbean Cruise 2025

This spring break we went on a 6 night cruise to the Western Caribbean on Oaisis of the Seas with Royal Caribbean. Our first destination was Royal Caribbean’s private island, CocoCay in the Bahamas.

These cruise ship islands are so impressive. They have multiple themed beaches, water parks, and their own excursions, but our first stop was “swimming with the pigs”. After a short walk from the boat to the excursion hut and boat ride to nearby “Treasure Island”, we were nose to snout with piggies. I’m pretty sure I heard Laura squeal when she saw them.

Our next stop was Jamaica, where we went on an excursion to Dunn’s River Falls, which turned out to be the best stop of the trip. All credit to Laura. She planned the excursions; me and the girls were just passengers. When we got to the falls and the guide explained we would be climbing 1,000 vertical feet to the top, things got real. I saw Katie’s face scrunch up and her jaw fell to the ground. Honestly, I felt similar. The last waterfall I was on was decades ago and it was MUCH smaller than this one and there was a lot of slipping and falling involved. I’m not sure how they manage it, but these paths weren’t slippery at all and I did not see a single slip or fall, which surprised me.

Our next and final stop was Labadee, Haiti. Much to our surprise, the port in Labadee was another private Royal Caribbean destination with trams, themed beaches, cafes, shopping, and excursions.

We went on “A Sandbar Getaway and Costal Cruise” excursion. It was a leisurely boat ride along the coast to a sandy sandbar seemingly in the middle of the ocean. We had a nice time exploring the sandbar and enjoying the calm shallow waters.
